Ferrellgas Dedicates New Bobtail to Autism Awareness, Research
Ferrellgas has joined the fight against autism by rolling out an autism awareness-themed propane delivery truck in Richmond, VA.
The truck's unique design features a colorful puzzle-piece pattern, reflecting the Autism Awareness Ribbon that, according to the Autism Society of America, "reflects the mystery and complexity of the autism
spectrum. The different colors and shapes represent the diversity of the
people and families living with the condition. The brightness of the
ribbon signals hope—hope that through increased awareness of autism, and
through early intervention and appropriate treatments, people with
autism will lead fuller, more complete lives."
The vehicle proudly carries names submitted by Ferrellgas customers of Richmond-area children and adults who are in the autism spectrum, as well as the names of Ferrellgas employees' loved ones who are affected by the condition.
Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life, affecting a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. According to the Autism Society of America, the prevalence of autism is estimated to be one in every 110 births in the United States, and almost one in 70 boys. Ferrellgas decided to select autism for its newest charity bobtail in honor of its many employees whose loved ones are affected by the condition.
