Citing a legislative agenda that is as significant as anything the industry has ever faced, the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) and Ferrellgas Partners, L.P. (Ferrellgas) today announced that the nation’s second largest propane retailer will rejoin the industry’s national trade association.
“The number of issues facing the entire U.S. energy sector is daunting,” says Steve Wambold, Ferrellgas’ Chief Executive Officer. “The NPGA has a clear and assertive agenda for addressing those issues, but it calls for a collective fight that involves all industry participants. I feel the stakes have never been higher and that there’s simply no better time for Ferrellgas to step in and rejoin that fight.”
The NPGA is currently addressing a number of critical issues, including climate change legislation, an amendment of the Propane Education & Research Act, the Fueling America First Act, and the extension of alternative fuels tax credits, among others.
According to NPGA President Richard R. Roldan, this is the first time in the history of the propane industry that the NPGA has had three industry-initiated bills pending.
“Ferrellgas’ decision to partner with NPGA will allow us to achieve the degree of effectiveness that can only be attained when all industry participants worth together toward common goals,” Roldan says.
NPGA Board Chairman Joe Cordill says he is encouraged by Ferrellgas’ return to the industry association, and confirmed that the company will be represented on the association’s board of directors.
“In the past, whenever Ferrellgas has engaged on an issue, they have done so with vigor,” Cordill says. “We will be a stronger association with their active participation at the board level.”
