I was profoundly grateful for the support I received from Ferrellgas when I was deployed to Iraq from April 2004 to March 2005. While I was deployed, Ferrellgas continued my coverage as if I were still home, still in the office every day. Knowing that my wife and 3-year old son would be able to continue seeing the same doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc. without switching everything over to my Army benefits let me know that Ferrellgas was committed to me as I was to doing my duty and serving my country. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, James E. Ferrell has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1965, when he returned home from a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Korea. Under his leadership, Ferrellgas has grown from a small, independently owned propane company to one of the nation's largest propane retailers. 
As a former enlisted soldier and commissioned officer, I know that the U.S. Army prepared me to think and act on my feet and, most importantly, to lead. For the last 11 years Ferrellgas has challenged me and allowed me to act independently and as part of a team. Common sense and aggressiveness are highly valued. The determined nature of the U.S. Armed Forces is not only desired at Ferrellgas, it is welcomed. 
My military experience has proved to be invaluable in my career. I learned how to focus in every detail, and details make the difference. Knowing how to achieve my goals and objectives without excuses has proven to be a difference maker. I now find myself in a position to lead people and to have a significant impact on a company that values exactly the experience that my service gave to me.
While trying to sort out my options for college, my father, a retired Lt. Col in the Air Force suggested that I pursue Air Force ROTC. I earned an AF ROTC Scholarship which upon graduating, allowed me to serve my country as an officer using my Computer Science degree. The military gave me the expertise and skills to be successful leader here at Ferrellgas.
