Established in 1939, Ferrellgas is the second largest marketer of propane in the United States, including the largest provider of propane by branded tank exchange.

Ferrellgas’ propane distribution business consists principally of transporting propane purchased from third parties to retail distribution outlets and then to tanks on propane Customers’ premises. Ferrellgas’ operations extend from coast to coast, with the strongest concentrations in the Midwest, Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest regions of the country.

In April 2004, Ferrellgas acquired from an affiliate substantially all of the assets and liabilities of Blue Rhino Corporation, the nation’s largest provider of branded propane tank exchange service. Blue Rhino’s distribution of propane by portable tank exchange generally consists of transporting propane purchased from third parties to our portable tank exchange distribution outlets and from there to nationwide and local retailers. Blue Rhino’s portable tank exchange operations provide a nationally branded portable tank exchange through a distribution network of independent and company-owned distributorships. Blue Rhino’s sale of propane by portable tank exchange is offered at more than 32,000 retail locations, including at leading home improvement centers, mass merchants, hardware, grocery, and convenience stores.

Ferrellgas is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol FGP. Ferrellgas Employees indirectly own approximately 18 million units of the partnership through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
