National Propane Day

October 7th is National Propane Day. It’s the day when people across the United States recognize propane, a clean, safe, affordable, and reliable fuel, but in truth, every day is propane day. About 12 million American homes use the fuel regularly. In those homes, you’ll find propane powering a wide variety of appliances, including grills, fire pits, dryers, and pool heaters to fireplaces, furnaces, stoves, and water heaters. You’ll also find propane being used as a fuel source away from home for fun activities like tailgating and camping.

In short, if you find good times, you’ll probably find propane there, too.

Propane is also a fuel of choice when America goes to work. Businesses, farms, and more turn to propane to keep factories running, transport people or goods, make workers comfortable, and ensure that crops or animals stay warm and dry – and much, more.

It all started in the nineteenth century when propane was first discovered by chemists. Then, in 1910, another chemist named Walter Selling noted the presence of propane in crude oil.

Selling’s discovery helped launch propane’s potential as a fuel source for today because the colorless, odorless gas is easily liquefied. That makes it an energy that can be easily transported to wherever it is needed, thanks to propane companies like Ferrellgas.

As one of America’s leading propane logistics companies, Ferrellgas offers customers across the country easy propane service on their terms. Whatever their propane needs, customers can choose from a variety of service options and payment plans to get the propane they need when they need it. As for those people who need a smaller 20 lb. propane tank to fuel their grills, fire pits, patio heaters, or turkey fryers, Blue Rhino propane exchange is available at 65,000 retail stores nationwide.

With all that convenience, it’s no wonder that propane is a staple of both the American and the world energy landscape – and a fuel that can help people make the most of time spent with friends and family indoors and out.
