Thanks, Mark, for going the extra mile

With highs in the low 90s and not a single cloud in the sky, it was a picture-perfect day, May 18. Close to 100 people stopped by to see us at the annual Customer Appreciation Day event in Macon, Georgia, and many of those in attendance brought a non-perishable item to support the food drive for the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.

If you’ve ever been to a Ferrellgas Customer Appreciation Day, you know it’s about more than free food, giveaways, and propane discounts. Even though those things are a highlight for many, there’s another reason we host hundreds of these events each year: Our local teams simply love spending time with their friends and neighbors. You’ll often find calendars hanging in offices with countdowns to the next time we have the privilege of hosting one of these fun and memorable events.

It was shaping up to be our best Customer Appreciation Day event yet. Until, that is, we learned that longtime customer Ms. B. wouldn’t be able to make it.

“She called in and said she got her invitation and really wanted to come but didn’t have a way to get to our office,” said Angel, a Customer Service Specialist in our Macon office.

That’s where Mark, one of our local drivers, came in, determined to take the event to Ms. B.

Armed with a warm meal and a goodie bag complete with a Ferrellgas-branded pot holder, coffee mug, calendar, and pen, Mark made the roughly one-hour round trip to Ms. B’s residence. It was not the first time he visited with her on her front porch.

“She was glad to see me,” he said. “She always brags on me and says I’m the best Ferrellgas driver.”

The avid hunter and fisherman said he’d do the same thing again in a heartbeat.

“Ferrellgas is a vehicle for me,” he added. “It provides a means for me to make my house payment, put food on the table, that kind of thing. But the other part of that vehicle, the customer holds the keys. If we don’t do right by our customers, the vehicle is no good. It’s not going to start. It’s not going to run.”

We couldn’t agree more, Mark. Thanks for going the extra mile for Ms. B. and all of our customers in and around Macon, Georgia.

Thanks for all you do, Mark. We’re proud to have you on our team.
